Grumpiness

I don't understand these people.
I have given up trying, as well.
I have no clue why they seem friendliest of the friendlies one day and grumpiest the next, with no apparent provocation from me. Granted, they may have their own issues but what did I do to deserve the ill-treatment? As if I am the reason for their misery, or maybe I took their happiness away just by going to talk? The result of their sulking is that my day is ruined (how else can it be, after I go and make a happy statement to them, and get back a spitting reply) and I have no clue why!

I would wish that not many of their kind cross my path, but one cannot choose one's fellow travellers in Life. So it happens that a few of them stray to my corner of the world, to ruin my days now and then. After the first shock (my experience with the first of them some years ago), I learnt that such people do exist, so rather than getting annoyed at the others who come along, I taught myself to say "There's another one of them" and try to keep away as far as possible! It doesn't work all the time, though.

Are you one of them Grumpies, or are you a victim like me?

  1. I've never known how to put a moment of bad vibes in context with 23 hours and 59 minutes of okayness. Mathematically, I get it. But it's like a dash of water tossed on a candle -- only a moment but enough to douse the flame. There's some consolation in knowing that they get 24 hours a day of their own bad vibes, but that seems mean, doesn't it?

  3. Ah Jean - I understand your life query about grumpy people. I despise people who when asked, "How are you?", respond with either a negative or blah statement. I strive to never let other people's bad attitudes or simple unhappiness pull me down. I refuse. I will participate in compassion and sorrow when applicable and relevant.

My general response to "how are you?" is based on this personal edict - "I am doing unbelievably fantastic, and hovering near ecstasy." Not always true, but generally the case.

Therefore to answer you question - I am neither grumpy nor a victim.

    Have a great evening.

  4. Teddy: I like your attitude very much. If you really manage to be unaffected by these responses, hats off to you. I hope I get there some day, but I have a long way to go.
