The 'foot overbridge' is half a kilometre down the platform and dragging luggage all the way to it and over it is next to impossible.
As I stood there, about ten or twenty people (maybe more) crossed the tracks, with a policeman looking on.
Can we blame anyone?

ReplyDeleteIncrease penalty/fine amount. Make that 10 times more than what it is maybe the solution.
ReplyDeleteEscalators in railway stations are a must. I guess that would encourage people to use the over bridge.
ReplyDeleteI have always thought: With platforms that are almost a kilometer long, why don't they make more than one overbridge? Even though I don't advocate crossing tracks (I never do, whatever it be) people tend to cut corners for this as they do for everything in India and sometimes pay with their lives.

One might wonder why make rules and don't implement it? Looking from the authorities side, the "rule" & the board declaring it are only open notice to the public that "you can cross the track here which is more convenient that the over-bridge, but then we are not responsible if something happens"
ReplyDelete... like the "Do not Urinate here" writing on some shady walls... which is not just inviting, but even increase your urge to urinate...
